Two Chinese entities including Jeihong Medical Products (BD), a subsidiary of Kunshan Jiehong Nonwoven Product Company which produces fabrics, gowns, gloves and caps, are all set to invest around US $ 28.69 million (Taka 244 crore) for making non-woven PPE or personal protective equipment and ready-mix concrete along with steel structural items.
Kunshan Jiehong Nonwoven Product Company through its subsidiary Jeihong Medical Products (BD) will invest around Taka 108 crore, equivalent to US $ 12.72 million to produce isolation gowns, boot covers, scrub suites, disposable caps, lab jackets and shoe covers, claimed media reports.
The company has reportedly sought eight acres of land to set up the manufacturing unit at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN).
Terming the development as ‘really encouraging’ during a pandemic, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Paban Chowdhry, reportedly, underlined that this goes on to exemplify overseas investors’ confidence built up through BEZA’s performance and the initiatives of Government to create a business-friendly environment.
The BEZA Executive Chairman reportedly expressed hope to hand over the land within 6 months for the factory construction to begin.
