A seminar titled COTTON USATM seminar 2024: Transparent & Sustainable US Cotton Sourcing for Bangladesh was organised by Cotton Council International (CCI), a non-profit trade association that promotes American cotton fibre and manufactured cotton products worldwide.
CCI is the export promotion arm of the National Cotton Council of America (NCC). demonstrates the higher quality of US cotton and how COTTON USATM solutions are establishing a sustainable and transparent US cotton procurement process for Bangladesh’s textile spinning sector.
The programme aimed to share how US cotton is assisting the sector in raising labour and machine productivity as well as yield in carded and combed yarn, among other things.
In the seminar, COTTON USA™, a leading US cotton fibre promoter and manufacturer of cotton products, experts and globally leading brand representatives and experts opined that the global apparel industry is moving towards sustainability to make it more environmentally friendly through traceability and circularity, which is also guided by several legislative initiatives.
However, they acknowledged several obstacles standing in the way of consumer awareness-raising and circularity initiatives: the expense of recycled textile materials; customer cost passing; and comprehension and ability to apply a circular model.
The majority of brands and importer nations have also established goals to enable supply chain traceability, according to the panellists at the CCI-sponsored session.
William Bettendorf, Regional Director, CCI said, “The US Cotton Trust Protocol can offer a transparent supply of sustainable cotton, which is being demanded by brands around the world. CCI takes pride in leading the industry in this regard through our strict classing process, contract sanctity standards and customer service offerings.”
There were about 200 attendees at the event, representing various manufacturers, brands, technological companies, and experts in cotton.
