Bangladesh is once again included by Walt Disney as an apparel sourcing destination!
The Walt Disney Company — Walt Disney Company, commonly known as Disney, is an American diversified multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate headquartered at the Walt Disney Studios complex in Burbank, California — which had suspended taking apparels from Bangladesh in 2013, almost a decade ago, following the tragic incidents of building collapse and fire, has decided to reinstate the country (Bangladesh) for sourcing apparels again.
Media reports maintained this while adding that the development has been confirmed by the apex garment makers’ body BGMEA, which has, reportedly, issued a press communique in this direction, adding Walt Disney has considered to include Bangladesh in its Permitted Sourcing Country list with International Labor Standard (ILS) audits.
Garment units that are part of ILO’s Better Work Bangladesh programme can, reportedly, become a vendor even if it needs to fulfil certain remediation criteria while also participate in the RSC-RMG Sustainability Council or Nirapon.
