Brother, the Japanese sewing machine premier, had set the tempo for sewing machine R&D last year after it unveiled S-7300A at GTE 2015. The highlight features of the machine were its electronic feed control system and an under bed trimmer which has brought down the remaining thread length to 3 mm as opposed to an average of 6 mm left by most of the contemporary machines. “With such small remaining thread lengths, this machine presents an opportunity to dispense thread trimming operators and save US $ 2,008 (Rs. 125,000) for every 100 sewing machines annually,” Randeep Sahani, General Manager India, Brother informed Apparel Resources.
At GTE 2016, the machine will chart the next mile for improved acceptance in the market as Brother will exhibit at the Magnum Resources booth the actual applications in production with solutions to all type of garments like knits/shirts/ladies top/bottom. “The focus is on how we can save money by increased productivity, improved quality by using electronic feed control system as horizontal feeding system – the first of its kind for an SNLS,” quoted a statement released by the technology provider.

The feed motion can be changed with one touch of a button to provide best sewing quality for various materials. Furthermore, the stitch length can be set digitally and thus one can get stitch variations within the same burst. For instance, for 50 stitches the stitch length could be 4 mm, and then for the next 10 stitches it could be 3 mm because of digital programming. So the final product which comes out is a niche product with exquisite technical construction and detailing. Brother has put a pulse motor in addition to a servo motor in the machine, all in-built. There is an LCD colour panel within the machine, which is completely programmable like any smart phone. There is also a USB port to download and feed any new data, as and when required. The machine has already been installed at leading factories in the industry including Orient Craft, Shyamtex and Pearl Global.
