In the wake of being the much sought-after accessory of spring 2013, short lengths have unexpectedly made a place for itself in fall winter too. While teensy spring shorts are a staple in H&M, Mango and retailers alike, fall season witnesses a more ingenious take on the trend. Way above mid thigh, in a selection of fabrics like cashmere, knits and even vinyl, designers experimented with the lengths of skirts, dresses and even coats. Taking up the trend with a fierce air, were Versace and Isabel Marant, with their body hugging, sultry dresses; while Marc Jacobs shortened the lengths on silk nightshirts, Chanel subsumed it in double-breasted coats, complimented by thigh-high leather boots. Accompanied with embroidered collars, full sleeves, fluted hems, shoulder details and distinct prints, short lengths work well in high pleated skirts and feminine A-line dresses too, as spotted in Temperly London and Valentino. Charming and chic, shorts lengths can be feminine with a cinched waist, classic with a boxy silhouette and sensual with a snug fit.
