The Mirsarai Economic Zone (MEZ) under Bangabandhu Shilpa Nagari (BSN) ‘Industrial city’ belt, would in near future have a tannery village, which would be the second of its kind in Bangladesh.
As per media reports which quoted sources from the Bangladesh Small & Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), the Government has reportedly decided to establish two tannery villages across the country, one of which will be built at Rajshahi and the second one at Mirsarai, Chittagong.
After the Savar tannery zone, these would be the new ones to come up in the country.
The MEZ has allocated nearly 300 acres of land from BSN for the proposed tannery village.
In this connection, BSCIC will deposit earnest money for the proposed land of MEZ to Bangladesh Economic Zone authority (BEZA) by first week of November next.
