The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) stated that it is keen to improve trade ties with France on a bilateral basis. The country’s premier commerce association also asked France for assistance in advancing technologies and developing skills.
According to a news statement, FBCCI is also excited to work with its French counterpart, MEDEF, to establish a Joint Business Council.
On Sunday, at the FBCCI Icon in Motijheel, Dhaka, FBCCI Senior Vice President Md. Amin Helaly made this call while meeting with a delegation from the French Embassy in Dhaka. Julien Deur, Head of the Economic Department of the French Embassy in Dhaka, headed the trip.
In his address, Amin Helaly emphasised the desire to strengthen cooperation with French counterparts to facilitate increased trade through diversified export goods and skill development.
“Both Bangladesh and France share a long-standing friendship. France stands as the fifth largest export destination of Bangladesh, showing a rising trend, with major export products including ready-made garments, knitwear, leather, and leather goods,” Amin Helaly added.
He listed the construction of two deep seaports at Matarbari and Payra, 101 Special Economic Zones, Hi-Tech parks, tourism parks, the Rooppur Nuclear Power station, an LNG terminal, and the improvement of the nation’s railway network as some of Bangladesh’s current development initiatives.
He extended an invitation to French investors to investigate Bangladesh’s enormous market potential. The chief of the French Embassy’s economic department in Dhaka, Julien Deur, commended Bangladesh for its recent economic growth.
He underlined the importance of B2B discussions and the considerable potential for mutual benefit from bilateral commerce.
Former FBCCI Director Tabarakul Tosaddek Hossain Khan (Tito), FBCCI Secretary General Md Alamgir, Economic Attaché of the Embassy of France in Dhaka Yann Riegel, and others were present during the call.
