
Workers, employed in three apparel manufacturing units of Dynasty Group, which are currently closed, held protests in Savar, demanding the closure of the units while also their arrears.
This was underlined by media reports, which claimed that more than 1,500 workers of Dynasty Sweater Limited, Dynasty Knit Fashion Limited and Millennium Sweater Limited located in Aukpara area of Savar in the outskirts of capital city Dhaka, on 13th October (Thursday), held sit in protest even if they observed a two-day strike on 11th and 12th October after they came to know about reported change of ownership of the factories.
Speaking to the media, the Organising Secretary of the Savar Ashulia Dhamrai regional committee of the Textile Garment Workers Federation, Ratan Hossain Motaleb, reportedly claimed the owner has sold the factories and since the ownership is changing, the workers observed a two-day strike demanding their dues even as following the strike, the factory authorities reportedly declared the closure of the units concerned under section 13 (1) of the Labour Act, as per Ratan.
