Bangladesh’s apex garment makers’ body, the BGMEA and the ICMPD or the International Centre for Migration Policy, recently discussed on how to employ returning migrant workers in the apparel industry.
According to media reports, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan and ICMPD Senior Project Manager Golda Myra Roma held discussions in this regard as the returning migrant workers often struggle to get jobs while back home even if the BGMEA Chair reportedly gave the ICMPD Senior Project Manager an overview of how the Bangladesh apparel industry is making significant contributions to the country’s economic development while also highlighting the future priorities of the sector for sustainable growth.
Mohammad Ikram Hossain, ICMPD Country Coordinator, was also reportedly present during the discussion.
