Launching yet another retail store in China, Valentino which ventured into the region in 2007, has a total of 18 stores and has now opened up a 7,535 sq. feet store in Shanghai at the luxury mall, IAPM. Making the launch a lot more grand and ‘targeted’ this time, there was a new collection, designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, aimed specially at the local market. “The collection is our vision of the Valentino woman, a multi-faceted, elegant and glamorous woman, yet playful at the same time. We were also inspired by the Chinese culture, so we mixed our culture with elements of theirs, for example in the accessories of this offering,” said the two. Immersed in obvious red, the collection includes both prêt-à-porter and couture pieces, conceptualized with studs, 3D flowers, lace, leather and camouflage prints. Already available at the flagship store in Shanghai, it ranges from US $ 980 to US $ 41,000, and will also be made available in other stores, located in New York, Paris and Rome, April 2014 onwards.
