Amazon India continues to expand in the country as it opened another Fulfilment Centre (FC) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The state has now become home to two FCs of the ecommerce giant. The retailer’s other FC in the state is operational at Ghaziabad.
The newly launched Amazon Fulfilment Centre is spread over an area of around 50,000 square feet and offers over 35,000 cubic feet of storage space.
The e-commerce major will soon set up four more Fulfilment Centres in India to provide a combined storage capacity of around 13 million cubic feet.
The establishment of these centres will be advantageous to thousands of small and medium businesses as the centres will help them reach a wider customer base.
Amazon is working extensively to increase its presence in India. The retail giant has set a target to take the count of its Fulfilment Centres in the country to 41 by the end of current year. All these FCs will come up in 13 different states of India.
The upcoming Fulfilment Centres will serve as a warehouse to store the products shipped by online sellers.
India is the biggest focus market for Amazon in terms of growth after North America. Over the years, the e-commerce retailer has emerged as the most popular online destination for Indian shoppers.
