Bangladesh will hold a two-day international conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on 21st and 22nd of November.
The conference, to be held in Dhaka, will focus on the country’s readymade garment (RMG) industry. This will be the first-of-its-kind event that will take place in Bangladesh.
A local CSR and communication consultancy firm BizCare is organising the conference in collaboration with South Korea-based Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF).
The event is intended to discuss the insights and imperatives of CSR in aiding communities and national socio-economic development. Additionally, emphasis will be laid on dealing with the environmental and social challenges at the conference.
The organisers are hoping that this event will be fruitful for the Bangladesh’s RMG sector. A special session ‘Master Class’ will be devoted to occupational health, workplace safety and quality as well.
Furthermore, the conference will also hold sessions on various topics like social accountability SA 8000, risk management, business opportunities for turning waste into resources, cleaner production, ICT, and employee engagement.
“Businesses can no longer solely rely on traditional theory for their growth; rather a lot more is required for becoming a strong corporate entity in the market. Bangladesh RMG industry should pay more attention in this regard,” said Mohiuddin Babar, CEO, BizCare.
Domain experts, especially in the garment industry, from home and abroad will deliberate on CSR and its relation to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
