The 43rd edition of Indian Handicraft & Gift Fair (IHGF) is set to open gates from February 16. The five-day extravaganza will be organized at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida. This was announced by Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director – EPCH at a press meet.
More than 3,000 exhibitors including 900 permanent marts from all over the country will showcase a wide range of products in 14 different product categories. Over 6,500 foreign buyers from more than 80 countries, buying agents based in India, and domestic retail volume buyers are expected to visit the mega fair.
Informative seminars on production techniques, skill development, GSP scheme, trends and forecast, discussion on Union Budget and the forthcoming GST will also be organized during the fair. One of the main highlights of the show will be setting up of thematic display of products from North Eastern Region and Jodhpur Mega cluster.
“The IHGF- Delhi fair over a period of 23 years, since its inception in 1994, has made significant contribution to the Handicrafts trade from India. It has not only enabled Indian exporters in large numbers to participate in the show and secure orders but also enabled foreign buyers to source their requirement from India at one place, one time and under one roof. One of the most important roles played by the IHGF has been the increase in the foreign exchange earnings beside employment generation for the sector for the country,” stated Kumar.

Despite the fact that USA and Europe have been major buyers of India, the focus of EPCH is now on new emerging markets hitherto unexplored and under-explored regions like Latin America, Central Asia (CIS), Africa and South East Asia for promoting overseas business visitor ship to this handicrafts and gifts fair, informed Dinesh Kumar, Chairman – EPCH.
