With the US $ 100 billion apparel export target by 2030 looming large, garment makers in Bangladesh have maintained the country needs to emphasise on increasing production of non-cotton items along with product and market diversification while also encouraging investment in backward linkage industry.
This is as per reports, which added the observations were made at a parallel session of Bangladesh Business Summit 2023, participating in which clothing sector leaders reportedly said overconcentration on a few core products and markets was one of the major challenges for the Bangladesh apparel sector even as they added investment in innovation, efficiency and recycling technology was also important for the Bangladesh clothing sector to achieve its goal.
To mark its 50th founding anniversary, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry organised the three-day Bangladesh Business Summit from March 11-13 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital Dhaka.
