
Bangladesh has expressed its interest to sign Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the MERCUSOR, the South American trade bloc established by the Treaty of Asunción in 1991 and Protocol of Ouro Preto in 1994.
Media reports maintained this adding newly-appointed Bangladesh Ambassador to Brazil, Sadia Faizunnesa highlighted Bangladesh’s keenness on signing the FTA when she presented her letters of credence as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bangladesh to Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro at the Planalto Palace in Brasilia recently.
At the event in which was present Foreign Minister of Brazil Carlos França, amongst others, Sadia Faizunnesa, reportedly, highlighted Bangladesh’s strength as the second largest apparel exporter globally even as the newly-appointed Ambassador also sought Jair Messias Bolsonaro’s support to negotiate the FTA with MERCOSUR.
