In a significant move towards enhancing sustainable waste management practices, Urmi Group has announced a partnership with LafargeHolcim Bangladesh PLC. This collaboration aims to advance circular economy initiatives through innovative approaches to waste processing.
Key initiatives under this partnership include the provision of Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) sludge for co-processing in cement production, as well as the supply of waste fabric for recycling purposes. These efforts are designed to promote sustainability by effectively utilizing waste materials and reducing overall landfill contributions.
By using sludge as a raw material and fuel in cement production, Urmi Group and LafargeHolcim aim to minimise waste and lower emissions associated with traditional waste disposal methods. Additionally, recycling waste fabric will help decrease dependence on virgin materials, further supporting environmental conservation.
