Hasan Arif, the Adviser For Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, has issued a strong warning against attempts to cause unrest in the nation’s ready-made clothing industries.
“Those who are creating chaos in the name of labour movement in the industrial area are not workers, they are outsiders,” he said after a meeting at the home ministry joined by several advisers and chiefs of armed and law enforcement agencies.
Arif said “stern actions will be taken” against the troublemakers or those who are found responsible for creating unrest in factories, to save the country’s economy.
Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury chaired the meeting over the worker’s protests at Ashulia and Savar on that morning.
He said that the members of the law enforcement agencies were not used against people, but some people were responsible for creating unrest in the factories, so, action should be taken against them.
The home affairs adviser also spoke to the media when he said police were gradually regaining their morale and image.
Arif added to Chowdhury’s statement, stating that to avoid having the public view police negatively, they should also take action to repair their reputation.
The adviser further stated that cooperative efforts have been made to retrieve illicit weapons, and that “those, who will be found with illegal weapons, will be brought under the law after that operation.”
