Japan-based Toray Industries Inc., an MNC specializing in industrial products, has announced to install prototype equipment to develop higher value spun bonded fabrics in Japan.
Establishing this facility at its Shiga Plant, the company will start its operation in November 2017. Toray will utilize the equipment for developing speciality spun-bonded fabrics for hygiene applications, such as disposable diaper, as well as for improving productivity throughout the group and expanding initiatives targeting the high value-added market.

In recent times, the Toray Group has been continuously expanding the production capacities of its plants in Korea, China and Indonesia in response to robust demand for polypropylene spun-bonded fabrics and to establish a stronger supply structure as one of the largest suppliers in Asia.
The installation of prototype equipment will further strengthen the group’s collaboration with key customers in Japan, and accelerate the development of higher value materials that address customer requirements in both performance and cost.
Additionally, Toray will capture vigorous demand, and will aim to further enlarge its whole nonwoven fabric business, mentioned Akihiro Nikkaku, President, Toray (Japan).
