The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) welcomed the interim administration and has called for the prompt reinstatement of peace and order as well as the resuscitation of economic activity.
“We urge all stakeholders, including the interim Government, private sector, and political parties, to work together to overcome the consequences of recent damages through a rigorous and sustainable economic recovery process,” reads a DCCI press release issued on 11th August.
Business leaders also underlined how crucial it is to maintain a stable political climate to boost companies’ confidence and international and domestic operations.
They wished for a speedy return to normalcy in terms of the economy and the restoration of a democratic political atmosphere, and they commended the Government for rising to the occasion. Additionally, the Dhaka chamber demanded justice by establishing the rule of law and enhancing Government.
All economic activities need to be fully resumed. To recover from the recent disruptions, the private sector needs significant and timely assistance. Business executives stated that to support economic recovery, a favourable climate characterised by political and regulatory stability must be created.
Given the economic losses and damage, the DCCI requested that the new Government take steps to revive the economy’s image and restore a positive growth trend. Priorities should include financial sector stability, inflation control, stability in foreign exchange reserves, capital market reforms, national revenue enhancement, reducing corruption through the rule of law, and aiding the recovery of CMSMEs (Cottage, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises).
The Dhaka Chamber stated that it believes that the restoration and reconstruction of the economy will heavily depend on the interim Government. It is eager to collaborate closely with the interim administration to further the nation’s much-needed prosperity and recovery.
The DCCI extends its sympathies and prayers to the victims and their families, expressing its profound sadness over the deaths and suffering caused to people during the past several weeks.
