Pakistan has noted a 7 per cent increase in its textile and clothing exports during the July-October period of 2017.
During the reporting period, Pakistan exported textile and clothing products worth US $ 4.4 billion as compared to US $ 4.1 billion in the same period last year, as per the data issued by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Cash subsidy offered under the Prime Minister’s exports enhancement package is seen as a key factor behind the augmentation in exports. The release of pending refunds and better energy supplies also helped textile and apparel suppliers to note a good result in the said period.
Ready-made garments, in particular, noted a 14.8 per cent increase to US $ 803.526 million in exports during the July-October period.
Meanwhile, knitwear exports soared 10.62 per cent to US $ 873.023 million in the same period. Bedwear exports increased by 5.44 per cent to US $ 755.419 million.
During the period under review, Pakistan noted a 5.4 per cent increase in cotton yarn exports as well. Made-up articles exports increased by 8.81 per cent to US $ 222.183 million while art, silk and synthetic textile exports noted a 60.61 per cent growth.
However, the country recorded almost no growth in towel exports as it remained flat at US $ 248.224 million.
Raw cotton (+46.69 per cent), synthetic textile (+60.61 per cent) and textile materials (+19.48 per cent) are among the most exported products during July-October.
