Belgian Queen Mathilde, who is currently visiting Bangladesh and had visited a renowned apparel manufacturing unit in the country to take stock of things, has praised the transition of Bangladesh’s readymade garment industry towards sustainable and responsible manufacturing.
According to reports, the queen visited the factory of Fakir Apparels at Narayanganj to witness first-hand the progress made by the apparel sector on social, environmental and economic fronts, as well as its contribution towards women’s welfare and empowerment.
The President of the apex garment makers’ body of BGMEA, Faruque Hassan reportedly also briefed the queen about the trade body’s (BGMEA) sustainable strategic ‘vision-2030’, which aims to accelerate the growth of the industry in a sustainable manner, even as he called upon the Belgian queen to share the positive stories of Bangladesh’s apparel sector at global platforms.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by the BGMEA underlined Executive President of BKMEA Mohammad Hatem as well as ILO Country Director Tuomo Poutiainen, were present during the Queen’s visit to Fakir Apparels.
