The Bangladesh Government has been urged by the Canada-Bangladesh Joint Working Group (JWG) on strengthening commercial relations to negotiate a new agreement for duty-free market access as the general preferential tariffs with Canada will come to an end in 2023.
As per reports, the JWG made this call at a recent virtual meeting even as during the meeting, Nuzhat Tam-Zaman, Canadian Co-chair of the Group, recommended launching an annual Canada-Bangladesh Forum as a launching pad for the JWG.
Taking part in the same, President of Canada Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Masud Rahman suggested establishing a 100 acre Canadian industrial zone in Bangabandhu Industrial City to attract the investors from Canada.
