
Parliament in Bangladesh on 30 June passed a Taka 678,064 crore for fiscal year 2022-23 aiming to bring Bangladesh back on the path to development in the backdrop of the economy being rocked by the global economic crisis, pandemic’s after effects and the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to media reports, after two years of the pandemic, the Government placed the budget with the theme ‘Return to the Path of Development Leaving the Covid-19 Behind’ before the parliament which was passed by the MPs in voice vote in a session chaired by the Speaker Shirin Shamin Chaudhury on last Thursday, the last day of the outgoing financial year.
Earlier on Wednesday, the parliament, reportedly, passed the finance bill changing cancelling two of the three provisions involving legalising laundered money and slashing the corporate tax for non-listed companies.
