Faruque Hassan was elected the President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) unopposed for the term 2021-23 on 12 April (Monday) even as the election board of the trade body (BGMEA) declared the names of the new BGMEA office bearers, President and seven Vice-Presidents, who were elected unopposed.
It may be mentioned here that the elections for the BGMEA office bearers were supposed to be held on 16 April even as 11 April was the last date for submission of nomination papers, but as none of the posts was,reportedly,contested for,the election board on 12 April announced the names of the office bearers.
According to media reports,Seha Design Ltd.Chairman SM Mannan Kochi was announced as Senior Vice-President, while Well Designers Limited Director Syed Nazrul Islam became the first Vice-President.
Apart from them, the five other Vice-Presidents of the trade body are namely Rakibul Alam Chowdhury (MD, HKC Apparels Ltd.), Md. Shahidullah Azim (MD,Classic Fashion Concept Ltd.), Miran Ali (Director,Misami Garments Ltd.), Khandoker Rafiqul Islam (MD,Designtex Knitwear Ltd.) and Md. Nasir Uddin (MD,Sadma Fashion Wear Ltd.).
