Vietnam International Fashion Week 2017 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City this year from April 25-28, featuring the latest Spring/Summer collections from over 20 global designers. Dutch-Vietnamese designer Xuan-Thu Nguyen, who is the first designer of Vietnamese descent to be accepted as a member of France’s Haute Couture Federation, will open the 4-day extravaganza.

With the Chairman of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS), Vu Duc Giang expecting the garment-textile exports from Vietnam to hit US $ 30 billion in 2017, the fashion show will be an important event for the country to showcase its fashion talent, globally. Founder and President of Vietnam International Fashion Week, Le Thi Quynh Trang said last year, “We are delighted to see the increasing popularity of Vietnam International Fashion Week by both audience support and media coverage through local and international channels. It is a clear indication of the success of the platform and an essential motivation for us to evolve the concept and push forward Vietnam’s fashion boundaries by organising two dedicated fashion weeks per year. Hopefully with this new seasonal approach, greater opportunities will be given to present and promote Vietnamese designers.”
A plethora of international fashion designers are going to join the event, namely Xuan Haute Couture (France), Betty Tran (Australia), Joao Rolo (Portugal), THIRD (Republic of Korea), Israeli Fashion by Shenkar Design School (Israel), Boys of Bangkok (Thailand), Lie by Lee Chung Chung (Republic of Korea), and Tata Christiane (Germany). Apart from the multi-national presence, the fashion week will also see locally famous participants like Nguyen Cong Tri, Claret Giang Le, Thuy Design House, Canifa by Le Ha, Devon Nguyen and 21six by Sandy Doan among others.
To ensure a far reaching eye on this fashion event, media representatives from Vogue Italy, Vogue Korea, and Harper’s Bazaar Singapore will be attending the event. The driving force behind the fashion week is to focus on the fashionable youth culture and the organizers have made special efforts to prize personal style and street style photography to promote the same.
