For the first time in their history, the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) and the International Apparel Federation (IAF) will convene their annual convention together in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from 8th-10th September.
The IAF and ITMF are orgasnising it in collaboration with their mutual Uzbek member, the Uzbek Textile and Apparel Industry Association.
The convention’s subject is Innovation, Cooperation, and Regulation – Key Drivers of the Textile and Apparel Industry.
A session including Inditex, Epic Group, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC, part of the World Bank Group) also focuses on collaboration. The speakers will discuss decarbonisation and demonstrate how a coordinated approach across the supply chain may deliver the breakthrough our industry requires.
In a global regulation session, representatives of the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), the China National Textile & Apparel Council (CNTAC), the European Textile & Apparel Industry Federation (EURATEX), and the Japan Textile Federation (JTF), will explain the shape that regulation will take in their countries and regions in the coming years.
These and other issues, including fibres, digitisation and artificial intelligence, will be discussed in Uzbekistan, a country with a rapidly rising textile and apparel sector that attracts visitors from all over the world.
The IAF presently has over 40 countries’ clothing associations and firms as members, representing over a hundred thousand companies and over 20 million employees directly and indirectly.
