
A leading name in the readymade garments (RMG) and textile sector of Bangladesh, SM Group, has come with an investment of Taka 1.3 billion to set up an accessories factory (SM Accessories Limited) to manufacture around 20 types of garment accessories, the founding ceremony of which was held recently.
Media reports maintained this while adding that as per Syed Mohammed, the Deputy Managing Director of SM Group, the factory which is expected to start production within this December and will make products including auto carton (SQM), jacquard elastic, drawstring, ribbon, sewing thread, woven label, poly, printed label/screen-print, auto screen print, twill tape, crochet elastic, offset, thermal, heat transfer, gum tape (roll), and printed gum tape (roll), etc., will employ more than 2,000 people and aims to export products worth US$ 30 million annually.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Syed A K Anwaruzzaman, the Chairman of SM Group reportedly underlined that they were setting up the unit to generate employment as well as boost export even during this pandemic and went on to add that Bangladesh Government, to continue the country’s economic activities, has taken a dynamic decision to keep apparel manufacturing units and other industries open by following all health safety guidelines.
