A delegation from the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA), headed by its Southern Zone Chairman Abdul Rehman, paid a visit to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) headquarters in Dhaka yesterday to explore opportunities for mutual industry collaboration.
During the meeting, the PHMA team engaged in meaningful discussions with BGMEA Administrator Anwar Hossain, members of the Support Committee, and prominent garment exporters. The dialogue centered around identifying joint initiatives that could spur progress in the textile and apparel sectors of both countries.
Anwar Hossain emphasized Bangladesh’s strategic pivot towards the production of high-value, advanced garments, particularly those made from man-made fibers. He also reiterated the industry’s strong commitment to sustainability and the integration of modern technologies to keep pace with global market shifts.
The two associations recognized their respective strengths, Bangladesh’s globally competitive ready-made garment (RMG) sector and Pakistan’s robust textile manufacturing foundation, and expressed optimism about the possibilities of collaboration. They discussed the potential for sharing technical knowledge, fostering innovation, and building industrial synergies to mutually enhance capabilities.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, with the aim of boosting global market access and enhancing the competitiveness of both industries.
