To facilitate export and import activities, customs houses and customs stations across Bangladesh will operate during the Eid holidays.
Media reports maintained this while adding that the country’s National Board of Revenue (NBR) has directed all customs houses and customs stations to remain open and went on to add that even if not completely, these offices have been asked to be kept open to a limited scale even as Benapole Custom House Commissioner — Benapole is country’s largest land port — has, reportedly, also asked the authorities concerned of Benapole Customs House to take necessary steps to keep the offices open during the Eid holidays.
It may be mentioned here that in Bangladesh, bulk of import and export takes place through the Chittagong Port, while Benapole Customs House is also responsible for handling substantial volume of export and imports, next only to Chittagong Port, according to some accounts.
So, apart from customs houses in these two places, Kamalapur ICD, Dhaka, Mongla and Pangaon customs will also remain open during this period, reports claimed.
