The president of the apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), has called for the victory of 35 members of the Forum panel in the upcoming elections of the trade body.
This was underlined in media reports, which claimed that Dr. Rubana Huq called for the victory of the Forum leaders at an event held recently at the Navy Convention Center, at the port city of Chittagong.
We will finalise the panel within 25 February, reportedly, said the BGMEA President as to the Forum’s panel while also adding exports took a beating last year after decreasing by around 16.94 per cent even as in the months from September to December alone, the average price of apparels fell by 5 per cent.
KDS Group Chairman and Forum Chittagong President Khalilur Rahman presided over the function even as leaders of various Chittagong-based apparel companies/groups, reportedly, spoke on the occasion.
It may be mentioned here that according to the announced schedule, BGMEA elections (for the tenure of 2021-22) will be held on 4 April.
