
A delegation from Cotton USA, which included Director, European Brands and Retailers Stephanie Thiers-Ratcliffe; Director, Supply Chain Marketing and South Asia William R. Bettendorf and Bangladesh Consultant, Cotton USA, Ali Arsalan, recently met the President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Faruque Hassan to discuss potential collaboration on creating mutual trade opportunities.
According to reports, the delegation met Faruque at the BGMEA complex in the capital Dhaka recently in the presence of BGMEA Director Tanvir Ahmed, amongst others even as the discussion between both sides revolved around how Cotton USA and BGMEA could work together to pave the way for more trade between USA and Bangladesh, especially in the apparel and cotton sectors.
Speaking to the US Cotton delegation, the BGMEA chair reportedly underlined the lifting of the mandatory fumigation of US cotton by the Bangladesh Government has created a huge opportunity for both countries (Bangladesh and USA) to enhance bilateral trade.
