Close on heels of Bangladesh Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal unveiling the proposed 2021-22 fiscal budget before the parliament on 3 June (Thursday), business leaders and entrepreneurs in the port city of Chittagong, reportedly, maintained the proposed budget is a visionary one and a budget for better livelihoods and prosperity.
Media reports maintained this while adding that when implemented, the budget will play a leading role in tackling the current coronavirus situation, the businessmen in Chittagong underlined.
Speaking to the media, President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Mahbubul Alam, reportedly, said ‘this is a visionary budget in the history of the country’ and went on to underline the development of Chittagong Port means the development of Bangladesh and for that, it is very important to speed up completion of the development mega projects around the port for the sake of Bangladesh’s progress.
Mahbubul further, reportedly, underlined that Matarbari Deep Sea Port, Bangabandhu Tunnel, Bangabandhu Shilpa Nagar and the Bay Terminal projects are underway here and when these projects are completed, the picture of development for the whole Bangladesh will change.
It may be mentioned here that Chittagong Port is a major sea port of Bangladesh and is responsible for handling bulk of the country’s exports and imports, including the all-important apparel shipments.
