The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) urged US company VF Corporation to strengthen its partnership with Bangladeshi suppliers to increase their capabilities in designing and manufacturing high-demand garment products.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan requested Sean Cady, vice president for global sustainability, responsibility and trade at the American global apparel and footwear company, at a meeting held at the BGMEA office in Dhaka.
According to Hassan, the organisation’s Sustainability Strategic Vision 2030 provides a path for the expansion of the sector in a sustainable way by giving priority to beneficial social and environmental effects.
Additionally, he urged VF Corporation to source more clothing from Bangladesh, especially high-end items.
Furthermore, the organisation asked the American business to think about working with BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology to help its students advance their knowledge and abilities in product creation, fashion design, and other related areas.
