Garment manufacturers in Bangladesh have once again reiterated their call for fair pricing when they called upon the buyers and brands to pay ethical prices as they are following an ethical process to manufacture clothes and also have invested in green initiatives to make the apparel industry environment-friendly.
Underlining that Bangladesh holds the second position in ethical production, the President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan said, “…We hope buyers will pay ethical prices.”
The President of BGMEA, which is the apex body of the garment makers in Bangladesh, made this call while addressing a virtual press conference to announce that BGMEA has recently won the 2021 USGBC Leadership Award, from the US Green Building Council or USGBC, in recognition of its green endeavours, which, reportedly, makes BGMEA the only organisation in the global apparel industry to get this award.
The BGMEA President further added that businesses have invested in green initiatives so as to make the apparel sector environment-friendly, cost-effective and energy-efficient.
