
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) board of directors recently convened to discuss the upcoming 2024-26 elections while also appointing a dedicated election board and an appellate board.
Media reports claimed this adding the meeting was presided over by BGMEA President Faruque Hassan.
The election board, led by Jahangir Alamin, former president of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, includes members Shomi Kaiser and ASM Nayeem.
Meanwhile, the election appellate board, headed by Kamran T Rahman, president of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, comprises members Khairul Huda Chopol and Nizamuddin Rajesh.
The election board is set to release the election schedule at least 80 days before the voting date, as per a press release issued by the trade body in this regard.
