To explore expanding trade and sustainability cooperation between Bangladesh and Brazil, Leonardo de Oliveira Jannuzzi, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Brazilian Embassy in Dhaka, met with the BGMEA.
BGMEA Director – Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Vice President – Vidiya Amrit Khan and Vice President (Finance) – Mijanur Rahman attended the meeting.
Strengthening bilateral commercial connections and investigating cooperation in fashion innovation and sustainable waste management—specifically in the recycling of worn clothing, fabric scraps and industrial byproducts—were the main goals of the meeting.
In addition to talking about important subjects including market prospects, trade restrictions and import laws for clothing entering Brazil, the BGMEA team asked the Embassy for help in locating possible Brazilian clothing importers, retailers and sourcing companies.
The significance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in fields like textile recycling and circular economy principles, which can support a more sustainable global garment business, was also acknowledged by both sides.
In an effort to increase participation, BGMEA suggested sending a delegation to Brazil to research sustainable and waste management best practices in the textile industry.
At the end of the conference, all parties agreed to strengthen their collaboration in order to improve Bangladesh’s apparel image and increase their presence in the Brazilian market.
