For the July to September quarter of the current fiscal year 2024–25, Beximco Limited reported a loss of Taka 113 crore, a substantial increase from the Taka 70 crore loss recorded for the previous year’s quarter.
The conglomerate blamed this decline on a number of issues, such as political upheaval, a curfew enforced by the state, internet outages, and other holidays that affected business operations in July and August. Production, marketing, and distribution operations, as well as the movement of commodities to and from ports and within the domestic market, were all negatively impacted by these interruptions.
Turnover dropped 48 per cent year over year to Taka 300 crore in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2024–25, according to the company’s unaudited report.
