
A 15-member business delegation from China’s Yunnan Province visited the Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) headquarters in Dhaka’s Gulshan-2 on Tuesday to discuss opportunities for strengthening bilateral trade and investment.
The delegation was led by Hao Yishan, Deputy Director General of the Department of Commerce under the Yunnan Provincial People’s Government. BCCCI Administrator Mst. Nargis Murshida chaired the discussion session and welcomed the guests. Senior BCCCI members, including Brig Gen G M Quamrul Islam, SPP, ndc, psc, Khandaker Atiqur Rahman, Wasim Zakaria, A T M Altaf Hossain Lotus, Md. Kamruzzaman, SK Md. Ruhul Amin, and Md. Abdul Sabur Khan, were present. The session was jointly moderated by Md. Abu Taher, Office Secretary of BCCCI, and Li Xiao.
Talks focused on a wide range of collaboration areas, including renewable energy, intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence, new energy solutions, carbon nanomaterials, green industrial transformation, ESG standards, agriculture, healthcare technology, and disaster management.
“The modern age demands innovative approaches and diversified products. This meeting is expected to create new scopes of cooperation within existing frameworks and also through fresh initiatives,” said BCCCI Administrator Nargis Murshida.
Highlighting past exchanges between Bangladeshi officials and Yunnan Province, delegation leader Hao Yishan reaffirmed China’s commitment to closer economic engagement with Bangladesh. He expressed optimism about expanding bilateral business linkages, particularly between Yunnan enterprises and Bangladeshi counterparts.
During the discussion, BCCCI members shared proposals to strengthen cooperation. Md. Faizul Alam stressed organizing trade fairs to promote Bangladeshi exports such as pineapple, jackfruit, guava, and mango in the Chinese market. ATM Altaf Hossain Lotus emphasized greater collaboration in logistics and supply chains, while SK Md. Ruhul Amin pointed to opportunities in renewable energy, especially solar power.
Other BCCCI representatives also underscored the long-term prospects of enhancing Bangladesh-China business ties, noting that deeper collaboration could unlock significant opportunities for both economies.
