
The Uttara Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in the northwest district of Nilphamari in Bangladesh has attracted an investment of US $ 8.5 million from Texas Clothing Ltd., a company from Bangladesh, which is planning to establish a garment manufacturing unit there.
According to reports, the authorities concerned of Texas Clothing and Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) inked an agreement in this regard in Dhaka recently in which was present BEPZA Executive Chairman, Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman.
As per a statement issued by BEPZA, Texas Clothing will annually produce around 70 lakh pieces of different garment items like denim pants, woven shirts, twill pants, jackets and woven bottoms.
The manufacturing unit of the company is further expected to create employment opportunity for 1,450 Bangladeshi nationals.
