The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) have taken a significant step toward strengthening trade relations by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) during the inaugural Pakistan-Bangladesh Business Forum in Dhaka.
Anwar Hossain, administrator of BGMEA, and Aamir Reyaz Chottani, vice-chairman of PRGMEA, formalised the agreement to enhance cooperation between the two garment industries. The event was attended by key stakeholders from both countries, highlighting a mutual interest in expanding trade and investment.
Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin emphasized the importance of the forum in fostering deeper economic ties. He noted that the platform would facilitate increased connectivity among trade organizations, promote business growth, and attract investment opportunities for both Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The adviser also mentioned ongoing efforts to identify and reduce tariff and non-tariff barriers that currently hinder smoother trade relations, aiming to create a more conducive environment for exports from both nations. Industry representatives expressed optimism that this collaboration would lead to enhanced trade volumes and further integration of their textile sectors.
