Canada, which is one of the traditional apparel export destinations for Bangladesh, is considering the possibility of extending duty-free quota-free (DFQF) facilities to Bangladesh until 2030, as well as signing either a preferential trade agreement (PTA) or free trade agreement (FTA).
Reportedly, this was maintained by Harjit Sajjan, the Canadian Minister for International Development, during his recent virtual meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen.
The meeting was held to mark 50 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, Harjit Sajjan, reportedly, lauded Bangladesh’s impressive economic progress in recent years, including the LDC graduation even as he assured Canada’s willingness to continue support in the socio-economic progress of Bangladesh, including through development assistance.
