Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan asserted that there is a deliberate provocation behind the ongoing turmoil in Bangladesh’s readymade garment sector.
Reports maintained this adding, the Minister pointed out that video footage of the incidents indicates a connection between the unrest and members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
Addressing reporters at his office, the Home Minister highlighted that the Prime Minister had recently raised the minimum wage for RMG workers by 56 per cent even as he acknowledged that there might be some confusion among certain groups, but he emphasised that such issues could be resolved through dialogue between RMG owners and workers.
However, he strongly condemned resorting to vandalism or arson, stating that such actions would not lead to any solutions.
