
A non-binding agreement was signed recently between the BEZA or the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority and the Adani Ports and SEZ Limited of India in Mumbai (India), to establish an Indian Economic Zone at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar in Mirsharai, in the port city of Chittagong.
According to a press note issued in this direction, the Economic Zone will be established on about 857 acres of land at a cost of about Taka 964 crore under Indian line of credit of US $ 115 million, said a press release.
It may be mentioned here that BEZA is developing the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar on around 30,000 acres of land where various types of industries, including readymade garments, supporting industries, integrated textiles, leather and leather goods, etc., are being set up in the industrial city.
