Bangladesh Bank, the central bank of Bangladesh, has approved the initiative taken by Janata Bank to recover its loan from AnonTex Group even if the central bank, which took the decision in the interests of the economy, including employment, in a letter issued recently, informed it has decided to reschedule a total of Taka 35.64 billion loans of 17 business entities under AnonTex Group, including Zara Denim Ltd., Simran Composite Ltd., Galaxy Sweater, Lamisa Spinning Ltd. and Yarn Dying Ltd.
As per reports, although the Bangladesh Bank has given the approval with some conditions, experts, reportedly, maintained banks should take a more practical approach in their loan recovery efforts considering the past experiences of recovering loans even as talking to the media, CEO and Managing Director of Janata Bank Limited, Md. Abdus Salam Azad said, “…I appreciate central bank for approving the initiative of Janata Bank in recovering and regularising default loans.”
Meanwhile, citing sources from Janata Bank, reports maintained AnonTex Group has already repaid Taka 860 million during the Coronavirus pandemic and gave consent for another Taka 250 million repayment even as the bank (Janata Bank) has formed a special team of experienced bankers to supervise the loan recovery.
