Anwar Group’s Hossain Dyeing & Printing Mills Ltd. took part in the biggest international fashion trade expo in the nation, FASHION WORLD TOKYO, which concluded recently.
The Tokyo Fair team was directed by Faizah Mehmood, Deputy Managing Director of Anwar Group of Industries, one of the potential new generation leaders.
In a conversation with local media, Faizah said, “This is the second successive year Hossain Dyeing & Printing Mills Ltd. has participated in the FaW TOKYO fair. The response is much more engaging and positive.”
The rationale behind the Japanese market focus was highlighted by Faizah. She averred, “Our export basket is heavily reliant on the USA and EU markets, indicating that there is fierce competition in these markets. We have set our sights on the Japanese market in an effort to be unique. For example, the quality, styles, and market expectations are unparalleled in comparison to other fashion trends worldwide.”
“Japan’s fashion market is really unique in the sense that gaining Japanese buyers’ trust is not something that comes easily. Their emphasis on quality is extremely high and their parameters are 10 times higher than any other global buyer. For instance, our existing Japanese buyers groomed us for a year before placing an order. It takes years to develop a sample as per their requirement,” she added.
Japan, the third-largest garment importer in the world, is a vital market for Bangladesh’s apparel manufacturing sector. Bangladesh exported garments worth US $ 1.09 billion to the global market in FY ’22.
Leading garment firms in Bangladesh have been attempting to gain a foothold in this industry as part of their efforts to increase their penetration in this important sector.
