The Home Ministry said in a statement issued today, 27th March, that the government is making every effort to accommodate the legitimate demands of garment workers nationwide. The statement emphasised that the Government has agreed to fulfill all pending dues and other reasonable requests from workers in the ready-made garment and related sectors.
The Home Ministry indicated that directives have been issued to factory owners and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) to ensure compliance, and their activities are under close monitoring.
However, the statement also condemned acts of unrest, warning that creating instability in the garment industry and obstructing traffic through road blockages is unacceptable. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to take a firm stance against such actions.
The Government has called for cooperation from both factory owners and workers to maintain a secure and orderly environment within the garment industry, stressing the importance of preserving law and order throughout the country.
