In an effort to demand the payment of unpaid salaries, workers from the Taratex garment factory blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway for around an hour and a half on Wednesday.
Vehicle traffic on this important route was severely disrupted when the demonstration in front of Shahadat Plaza started around 8:30 AM.
Police and army officers were among the authorities who stepped in and attempted to settle the dispute. After negotiations, the workers agreed to lift the barrier, and traffic started up again at 10:00 AM.
