Notwithstanding the appeal by the garment makers, Bangladesh Government was yet to take any decision whether apparel manufacturing units would be allowed to operate during the upcoming countrywide lockdown starting 23 July, which is causing some hassles to garment workers in chalking out their plans for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival.
Media reports maintained this while adding as things stand, factories would be shut during the lockdown while adding that garment and textile factory have been lobbying with the Government to keep the plants out of the purview of the lockdown and, in case that same cannot be managed, they are for allowing the factories resume production from 1 August instead of 5 August, the date on which the lockdown is supposed to end.
Given the existing scenario, garment workers are unable to decide whether to go to their ancestral villages to celebrate the holy festival with their near and dear ones.
