In an incident early Thursday, two covered vans were set ablaze when assailants threw flammable substances at them on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, specifically at the Bhogra Bypass intersection. This is as per media reports.
Abdus Samad, senior station master of Joydebpur Fire Service, reported that the ignitable substances were targeted at both a stationary and a moving covered van during the early morning hours.
Promptly informed, a firefighting unit swiftly responded to the scene, successfully extinguishing the flames.
Notably, both covered vans were transporting goods from readymade garment factories.
The incident underscores the challenges faced by the transportation and logistics sectors, emphasising the need for vigilance and security measures to safeguard valuable cargo and mitigate risks on crucial transportation routes.
