Underlining Bangladesh will continue to be the preferred choice of global buyers as the safest RMG sourcing destination globally, the president of the apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh said, the factory owners in Bangladesh were committed to taking forward the accomplishments made regarding workplace safety and workers’ rights.
According to a press release issued in this direction, Faruque Hassan came up with the observations during a recent meeting with Director of Better Work, Dan Rees, at the BGMEA office in Dhaka.
The press release further with support from International Labour Organization (ILO), global brands and the Bangladesh Government, said a paradigm shift had taken place in the areas of infrastructure, fire and electrical safety at the workplaces and went on to add these developments helped Bangladesh earn global recognition even if the industry’s priority now is to ensure continuation of this momentum.
Present at the meeting were incumbent BGMEA Vice President (VP) Miran Ali, Former president Md. Shafiul Islam, former VP Moshiul Azam (Shajal), Director Barrister Vidiya Amrit Khan, BKMEA VP Fazle Shamim Ehsan, Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on RSC Nafis-Ud-Doula, Sparrow Group MD Shovon Islam, amongst others.
